The Sierra Nevada ski resort will receive this Sunday a group of 45 young Ukrainian skiers from the winter sports federation, as they have been forced to leave their country because of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The buses will leave from Jaén and Granada to the Hungarian border.
The group arriving in Granada consists of 45 skiers and 29 footballers, aged between 12 and 16, and their coaches. The young athletes, authorised by the Ukrainian government to leave the country and accompanied by their coaches as legal guardians of the minors, are expected to arrive in Spain this Saturday.
The group of footballers will be distributed in the sporting structures of three professional Spanish football teams: Huesca, Levante and Valencia. The rest of the contingent will continue to Granada to arrive in the Sierra Nevada between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Parents of children belonging to FADI (Andalusian federation of sports) ski clubs will be responsible for their accommodation and meals.
FADI, Monachil Town Hall in Andalucia and Cetursa Sierra Nevada have been in talks with the Ukraninan authorities through the General Secretary of Sports Spain.
